A report from the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) estimates the size of the sequestration cuts to agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) and the Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), reported on the OMB estimates. The OMB estimates that the EPA sequestration cuts will be $716 million, including an 8.2% cut to the agency's discretionary spending budget. This also includes $220 million cut from the EPA Environmental Programs and Management account. The 8.2% sequestration cut to the DOE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy amounts to $148 million.
AHRI did not say how the cuts might impact mandated energy efficiency standards-making.
