Worldwide sales of semiconductors were $24.05 billion in January 2013, up 3.8 percent from January 2012's sales of $23.16 billion, according to a March report from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).
Global sales in January 2013 were down 2.8% from December 2012's $24.74 billion, which the association said reflects normal seasonal trends. All monthly sales numbers represent a three-month moving average.
Year-over-year sales, regionally in January 2013:
* Americas were up 10.5%
* Asia Pacific was up 7.8%
* Europe was down 4.9%
* Japan was down 12.3%
