Total North American PCB shipments were down 10.2% in February 2013 compared to February 2012, according to the latest data from IPC -- Association Connecting Electronics Industries. IPC said bookings were down 9.2%. The data was released in late March 2013.
Year to date, PCB industry shipments were down 5.7%; bookings were down 6.7%.
Compared to January 2013, PCB shipments in February 2013 were down 6.5%, while bookings were up 1.1%. The book-to-bill ratio for the industry continued strengthening in February, to 1.06.
"Sales are still sluggish in the North American PCB industry, but the book-to-bill ratio strengthened in February for the third straight month," said Sharon Starr, IPC director of market research. "When orders exceed sales over several months, this is an encouraging sign for future sales growth."
