Panasonic Ecology Systems added a motor plant to its Guangdong, China facility, as part of a program to more than double production capacity to 10 million motors by fiscal year 2019 and accelerate the expansion of its IAQ product business globally.
Panasonic Ecology Systems Company (PESES) built the additional motor plant at Panasonic Ecology Systems Guangdong Company (PESESGD), its subsidiary production company in Guangdong, China. An opening ceremony for the new plant was held on March 18, 2013.
PESES is globally expanding its business in indoor air quality (IAQ) products, including ventilation fans and air purifiers. PESESGD, the company's main plant, produces IAQ products for Southeast Asia, the Middle East, North America, and Europe as well as China.
The company's air purifiers have been well appraised by the China Indoor Environment Monitoring Committee, and its ventilation fans have received Energy Star certification in North America.
Panasonic, based in Osaka, continues to view the IAQ business outside Japan as important to growth. Its goal is a 50% increase in overseas IAQ sales--a goal that will be facilitated by the capacity expansion of the new motors plant.
Panasonic said motors are the core component of IAQ appliances and have a major impact on their basic performance, energy efficiency, quality, cost, etc. Other equipment has also been installed at the site to help the facility to help it reach 10 million motor/year capacity by the end of FY 2019 (April 2018-March 2019).
The new, two-story plant has 18,200 square meters of floor space. It will make ac and dc motors when production starts in March 2013.
