Daily spending by Americans averaged $73 in July 2012, compared to June 2012's $70 average and July 2011's $74 average, according to Gallup Daily tracking.
Gallup noted that the data suggests little movement in consumer spending in the short term, but it sees a broad trend toward increased spending since the sharp drop after the 2008 holiday selling season.
