Canadian electronics and appliance stores had seasonally adjusted sales of $1168 million Canadian dollars (CAD) in May 2012, according to Statistics Canada. The report released in late July said electronics and appliance store sales were down 8.2% from CAD $1254 million in May 2011 and were down 0.8% from CAD $1178 million in April 2012.
Total Canadian retail sales rose 0.3% to CAD $38.9 billion in May 2012. Gains were reported in 6 of 11 subsectors, representing 53% of retail trade. Overall, retail sales have been relatively flat since November 2011. In volume terms, retail sales rose 0.7%
