Haier To Put $1.3 billion Industrial Park in Northwest China

Urumqi High-Tech Zone and Chinese appliance giant Haier Group signed an investment agreement on May 9, 2012, for beginning construction of Haier's new $1.3 billion high-tech industry park. A Chinese government web site provided the investment estimates for the project, which will be developed in two phases.

Phase 1 will be a Haier Xinjiang logistics and marketing facility. Building will start in August of this year and with an operational date of Sept. 30, 2013. Chinese web site Invest in China estimates that the facility will employ 800 people. Development of Phase 2 is expected to start in September of 2013 and the facility should be operational by August 2015.
