November 2011 world crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association was 116 million metric tons (mmt), up 1.1% from November 2010.
Crude steel production by region in November 2011:
• China: 49.9 mmt, down 0.2% compared to November 2010
• Japan: 8.7 mmt, down 3.2% from November 2010
• South Korea: 5.8 mmt, up 12.4% from November 2010
• Germany: 3.5 mmt, down 10.0%
• Italy: 2.6 mmt, up 12.3%
• France: 1.3 mmt, up 4.2%
• Turkey: 2.8 mmt up 12.8%
• United States: 7.2 mmt, up 11.8%
• Brazil: 2.7 mmt, up 3.7%
The 64 countries' world crude steel capacity utilization ratio in November 2011 declined to 73.4% - down 2.8 percentage points from October 2011 and down 2.6 percentage points from November 2010 – to reach its lowest point in two years.
