U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 6.3 billion pounds in August 2011, down 3.4% from August 2010, according to statistics released in mid-October by the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 50.7 billion pounds, a 0.5% increase from the same period in 2010.
Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 6.6 billion pounds in August 2011, down 2.2% from August 2010. Year-to-date sales and captive use was 50.2 billion pounds, a 0.2% increase compared to the same period in 2010.
