Electrolux Breaks Ground in Springfield, TN

Electrolux Major Appliances North America (EMA-NA) this week broke ground on a $5 million expansion to its Springfield, TN, cooking manufacturing facility.

The event came just a few days after the Oct. 5 groundbreaking for a new cooking appliances plant in Memphis, TN.

The expansion in Springfield will result in Springfield becoming the company’s R&D center and purchasing headquarters for cooking products in North America, as well as the Global Development Center for electronics for Electrolux Major Appliances worldwide. About 75 new engineering and technical jobs will be added to the facility.

“We are excited to take on a growing role for Electrolux by leveraging this location for not only our North American cooking manufacturing facilities, but also cooking facilities worldwide with the addition of global electronics at this plant,” said John Terzo, vice president and general manager for EMA-NA cooking products. “We are very pleased to continue making significant investments in our facilities in Springfield and adding a global role to our expertise in cooking products.”

The three-story, 21,000 square-foot expansion will add world-class cooking laboratories and development facilities to the Springfield factory. A renovation of current office space is also underway and expected to be complete by the end of the month. The expansion is expected to be complete in January 2012.
