Home improvement retailer Lowe's added 18-volt and corded power tools to its line of 1700 Kobalt-brand hand tools, which are sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores.

Kobalt-brand hand tools, according to several online sources, are primarily manufactured for Lowe's by Danaher Corp. Lowe's did not name the supplier of the new power tool products.

Lowe's described the new line as "built from the ground up." All 18-volt tools in the line are compatible with both the brand's lithium-ion as well as nickel cadmium (NiCd) batteries. The 18-volt line includes a cordless combo kits with drill/driver, reciprocating saw, circular saw, and LED worklight. It is available in a lithium-ion battery configuration for $269 and a NiCd configuration for $169. Other 18-volt products include an Impact Wrench. AC corded tools include a 12-amp orbital reciprocating saw and a 15-amp magnesium circular saw.
