Made in the USA Hall-of-Famers: Whirlpool and Vitamix

The Made in the USA Foundation named appliance companies Whirlpool and Vitamix to its Hall of Fame at its 2011 celebration on July 2, 2011, in Santa Monica, CA.

Whirlpool Corp. (Benton Harbor, MI, U.S.) won in the Large Kitchen Appliances category, beating out nominees Sub-Zero and Viking.

Vitamix Corp., (Cleveland, OH) won in the Small Kitchen Tools and Appliances category, beating out Anchor Hocking Glassware, Best Manufacturers, Inc., Blendtec, Chef's Choice (An Edgecraft Co.), KitchenAid (A Whirlpool Co.), and Peterboro Basket Company.

The award celebrates businesses exhibiting excellence in manufacturing practices and standards in the United States. Those nominated are evaluated on their contribution to job creation in the United States, accurate labeling, promotion of U.S.-made products, and labor and environmental standards.
