Shipments of steel and aluminum products by U.S. and Canadian metal service centers returned to more robust growth rates during May after a weaker April, the Metals Activity Report from the Metals Service Center Institute shows.
U.S. steel shipments from metals service centers were up 20.1% over May 2010 to 3.50 million tons. U.S. aluminum was up 31.4% to 127,400 tons. Canadian steel was up 14.1% to 528,300 tons. Canadian aluminum was up 10.9% to 12,500 tons.
