April U.S. Appliance Retail Store Sales Up Over 2010

The U.S. Census Bureau reported that adjusted Electronics & Appliance Store sales in April 2011 were $8,419 million, down from the $8,604 million in March 2011 and up from $8,364 million in February 2011. April 2011 adjusted sales were up slightly from the $8,341 million reported in April 2010.
Estimates of sales are adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes.
Non-adjusted Electronics & Appliance Store sales for the four months of 2011 were reported to be $31,002 million, up 0.4% over the first four months of 2010.
