Asko Classic dishwashers received a 2011 red dot design. The red dot design award is an international product design competitions.

Tobias Strålman, design manager at Asko, explains that the Asko D5424 XL, D5434 XL/XXL, and D5454 XL/XXL models used unique design that made it possible to do away with the common plastic control panel and locate the control interface directly in the steel front.

The minimalistic front accentuates the controls as being the most important interface between the user and the appliance.

"We’re extra pleased to receive the award for these products since we feel that they both symbolize and gather our Scandinavian core design values in the best possible way," said Strålman.

The red dot design award dates to 1955. In 2011 designers and companies from 60 countries entered 4433 products.
