Six different appliances in the AEG bran Neue Kollektion line won 2011 iF Design Awards in the Household/Living category. There were 2756 entries from 43 countries for the 2011 design competition. The competition is organized by International Forum Design of Hannover, Germany.
Electrolux's AEG brand won awards for:
• the Competence MaxiKlasse built-in/under product range 60 H-design
• the Compact product range 38 H-design
• the MaxiSense Bridge hobs product range (models HK654300XB, HK653320FB, and HK654400XB)
• the CrystalLine hobs (cooktops) product range
AEG developed the line to have a strong design signature across all the appliances, creating an aligned, integrated look. It said the horizontal lines give a sense of flow and integrity, while vertical lines delineate the intuitive control panels.
The form of the appliances was design with consideration for how modern kitchens function.
"Products should be outstanding but should not disrupt the harmony of the kitchen. I’m particularly proud of the way the Neue Kollektion connects across the product ranges," said AEG Senior Design Manager Hans Strohmeier.
AEG designers, based in Nuremberg, Germany, also worked to create an information-rich interface to provide users with many control options without making the appliance control feel complicated.
