Slovenian appliance maker Gorenje signed an agreement to make further investments in the city of Zaječar in Serbia.
At its existing manufacturing complex Gorenje plans to launch an assembly line for washing machines and dryers, produced for the Serbian and other Eastern European markets. It will also stat up a plant for plastic bathroom washbasins. Operations are expected to start within 12 months of the signing of all contracts and agreements, and the new operations should boost employment by about 300 within three years.
As part of its promotion of job creation, the Republic of Serbia will support the project with a grant of about EUR 10,000 per employee.
Attending the ceremony for the signing of the preliminary agreement were:

• vice president of the Serbian government and Minster of Economy and regional development of the Republic of Serbia Mlađan Dinkić
• mayor of the city of Zaječar Boško Ničić
