Dacor Deploys Enterprise Applications on Demand

Luxury kitchen appliance OEM Dacor is delivering products to market faster thanks in part to QAD Enterprise Applications On Demand.
Dacor needed to improve its manufacturing, supply chain, and IT efficiency and chose a "software as a service" solution. Today, the OEM has 250 application users.
The company upgraded from its on-premise solution to the enterprise applications solution as a way to augment its IT resources without adding staff. The enterprise applications infrastructure resides in Denver, CO, connecting and centralizing Dacor's three U.S. manufacturing plants and six distribution centers and providing data and hardware backup and redundancy.
“QAD On Demand has given us the ability to run the applications we need as if we have dedicated database administrators on staff,” said Hugo Valldejuli, Dacor's chief information officer. “We can now rely on 99.9% system availability, while saving on our IT budget and improving our technical resources.”
Dacor found it could improve shop floor flow control and work in process (WIP). “We are now able to more closely manage our data and transactions and, as a result, have improved our inventory turns and lowered inventory overall,” Valldejuli said.
Dacor credits the enterprise applications in helping it become more nimble and responsive to the desires of “aspiring consumers,” which it sees as a previously untapped market segment and launch products – the Distinctive appliance line - to meet the needs of this market.
“In a year when the economy and our competition were not encouraged to release new products, we launched eight new models,” noted Brett Hunt, Dacor's director of marketing. “We were able to move very quickly."
