Black & Decker was named an International CES Innovations 2011 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for the iShred Vertical Shredder. The iShred is the only vertical shredder on the market. It has patented, enclosed blades, said to make it one of the safest shredders on the market. The design of the iShred fluted bin allows for easy emptying. Tiny shreds ensure document protection.

“Shredder design hasn’t changed in the last 20 years. Consumer needs, whether that is added safety features, functional design or reliability at a great value, were not being met” said Joel Wasserman, General Manager, Black & Decker Shredders. “It is our goal to continue to provide products which address consumer frustrations and fit the changing needs of our evolving lifestyles at home or in the office.”

This marks the first time that a paper shredder has received this recognition. The Innovations Design and Engineering Awards have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976. It is sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the producer of the International CES.
