To make appliance shopping easier GE created a mobile version of its website, M.GEAppliances.com, in time for consumers to use on Black Friday.
GE said that, compared to Black Friday 2008, 2009 Black Friday freezer sales jumped by 104% , washer/dryer combos by 70%, and refrigerators by 30%.
Consumers using the GEAppliances.com site on their smartphone will automatically get information scaled down information, sized for phones, and will provide information on rebates, product specifications, and where-to-buy functionality.
GE said there were about 20 million daily unique visitors a year on GEAppliances.com. In january 2010, about 10-12% visited using a smartphone.
