July Resin Production up 1.8%

U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 6.5 billion pounds during July 2010, an increase of 1.8% compared to the same month in 2009, according to statistics from the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 44.0 billion pounds, a 4.9% increase compared to the same period in 2009.

Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 6.6 billion pounds during July 2010, an increase of 6.9% from the same month in 2009. Year-to-date sales and captive use was 43.4 billion pounds, a 3.3% increase compared to the same period in 2009.
