A monthly market-research report, the U.S. Appliance Shipment Statistics Monthly, was launched by Canon Communications' and Canon Data Products Group.

Each edition of the report will provide appliance industry professionals with a current analysis of market challenges and opportunities, consumer buying trends, and unit shipment statistics.

In the inaugural June 2010 edition of this report, editorial analysis covers the effects of economic recovery on the appliance industry. Unit shipments are up for the year – particularly in major appliance categories – and growth is being primarily attributed to the Home Buyer Tax Credit and Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate program.

In consumer electronics, technological development and declining prices continue to foster global growth. While the U.S. currently drives the global consumer electronics industry, that is expected to change as demand from developing nations rises, most notably in the Asia-Pacific region.

U.S. Appliance Shipment Statistics Monthly provides statistical analysis for:
• Same time last year (STLY)
• Year-to-date (YTD)
• 5-year trend

Within each of these appliance categories:
• Major Appliances
• Comfort Conditioning
• Consumer Electronics
• Commercial Appliances

“The U.S. appliance industry continues to rebound after a difficult couple of years,” noted Andrew Humphreys, editor in chief of Canon Data Products Group. “Appliance factory unit shipments in most major categories have increased year-to-date compared with the 2009 figures. However, the economic climate remains unstable, and the growth pattern for the remainder of 2010 in the appliance arena may fluctuate.”

More insight into current market conditions for the appliance industry, as well as shipment statistics, is available with the U.S. Appliance Shipment Statistics Monthly: June 2010 Edition, which can be purchased at
