Appliance maker Indesit Company, based in Fabriano, Italy, received two innovation awards this week.
Indesit won in the Large Enterprise category of the 2010 Premio Imprese x Innovation awards, organized by Confindustria and the Associazione Premio Qualità Italia. Indesit was awarded “for the systematic and integrated innovation management, used as a competitive lever for the improvement of quality and customer satisfaction."
Indesit Chairman Andrea Merloni was also presented the Prize of Prizes by Italian President Giorgio Napolitano in a ceremony held June 8, 2010, at the Palazzo del Quirinale.
“These awards are an important recognition of the company’s constant commitment to innovation,” said Merloni, “and reflect the quality, ideas and insights of our people."
Every year, Indesit channels over a third of its investments into research and development of new products, using an open innovation model that involves suppliers, manufacturers of home appliance-related goods, universities, and research centers in Italy and abroad.
