Consumer prices in the OECD area rose by 2.1% in the year to March 2010, up from 1.9% in February. This small increase in inflation rates mainly reflected higher energy prices, which increased 11.3% in the year to March, compared with 8.4% in February. Consumer prices for food in the OECD area rose by 0.2% in the year to March 2010.
Excluding food and energy, consumer prices rose by 1.4% in the year to March 2010, down from 1.5% in February and from a peak of 2.4% in August 2008.
