Government statistics report March 2010 sales of new single-family houses were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 411,000, up 26.9% over the revised February rate of 324,000 and up 23.8% over March 2009's 332,000.

The report from the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development said the median sales price of March new houses sales was $214,000; the average sales price was $258,600. The seasonally adjusted estimate of new houses for sale at the end of March was 228,000, representing a supply of 6.7 months at the current sales rate.
