LED supplier Cree, Inc. said it has broken LED efficacy records with its new lighting-class LED platform, the XLamp XM, a single chip LED delivering 160 lumens per watt at 350 mA. It delivers 750 lumens at 2 A, the equivalent of delivering the light output of a 60 W incandescent light bulb at less than 7 watts.
The thermal resistance of the platform is 2°C per watt, also said to be the best in the industry and a 350% improvement over the supplier's XLamp XP-E LED.
