Eighth Month of Manufacturing Expansion

Economic activity in the U.S. manufacturing sector expanded in March for the eighth month in a row according to the supply executives surveyed for the latest Manufacturing ISM Report On Business. ISM (the Institute for Supply Management) noted that the overall economy also grew in March for the 11th consecutive month.

The Electrical Equipment, Appliances & Components industry sector was among those reporting overall growth (third highest of the 17 industries reporting growth).

Appliance was the second highest of the 13 industries reporting new orders in March.

Appliance was fourth highest of the 12 industries reporting growth in March production.

Appliance was also among the industries reporting in March:
• increased employment
• increased backlog of orders
• new export orders
• imports
