German refrigerator maker Liebherr-Hausgeraete Ochsenhausen GmbH has voluntarily recalled about 2,700 built-in refrigerators.

Consumers were advised to inspect the door hinge of recalled units, as the door hinge pin can come loose and the refrigerator’s door can detach. Liebherr has received 13 reports of doors detaching, including two reports of injuries involving bruising and strains.

The recall involves Liebherr built-in 24-inch wide single door refrigerators with model numbers R1400, RI1400, RB1400, and RBI1400 sold individually or as a component (as pictured) of side-by-side refrigerators.

The refrigerators, which were manufactured in Germany, were sold at appliance and specialty retailers in the U.S. and Canada from January 2005 through November 2009 for between U.S. $2,500 and $3,200.
