Trade show organizer Koelnmesse is taking proactive measures to eliminate product piracy at the International Hardware Fair Cologne, to be held February 28 to March 3 in Cologne, Germany.

Posters and brochures distributed by the show organizer display an outstretched arm showing the red card and clear message: “No Copy!” The organizer will also set up an action and advice center to provide support for advice-seeking exhibitors.

If required, contacts to lawyers will also be arranged, and experts from the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA) will be on hand to provide support for exhibitors at the fair. Mobile investigation groups (MIG) will be patrolling the halls for anything suspicious and are prepared to impound exhibits when necessary.

Koelnmesse says its goal is to decisively reduce copyright infringements at the Cologne trade fairs, provide exhibitors with assistance, and also clearly promote the service. The organizer plans to be an active pioneer against illegal copying, which it feels is one of the most pressing problems facing modern, international trade fair business.
