July Steel Shipments up 9.9% Sep 18, 2009 |

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of July 2009, U.S. steel mills shipped 5,271,000 net tons, a 9.9% increase from the 4,797,000 net tons shipped in the previous month, June 2009, and a 42.5% decrease from the 9,175,000 net tons shipped in July 2008.
A month-to-month comparison of shipments shows the following changes: hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip, up 5.8%; hot rolled sheet, up 6%; and cold rolled sheet, up 15.9%.
