LG Electronics Plans Manufacturing Facility in India

LG Electronics is planning to set up a facility in the southern part of India, either in Chennai or Hyderabad, in the next three years.

The company said that current capacities at its Ranjangaon facility near Pune are sufficient to cater to the demand for the next three years and its second phase of expansion will be down south. It also said it plans to export high-end televisions and refrigerators from the south facility.

The company also plans to double its R&D spending "to create India-specific products."
