
Retail sales in the United States increased by the largest amount in four months in May, but sales at Appliance and Electronics Stores were down slightly. The U.S. Commerce Department report said retail sales in May increased by 0.5%. It was the largest increase since sales increased by 1.7% in January. Sales were up at hardware stores, grocery stores, and and health stores, and by 0.5% with auto sales. Yet, sales at consumer electronics and appliance specialty retailers fell 13%.
