The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) published its newest performance standard, AHAM AC-3-2009, measuring the performance of air cleaners following accelerated particulate loading.

Used in conjunction with ANSI/AHAM AC-1, this test method evaluates and compares the performance of portable household electric air cleaners before and after the air cleaners have been subjected to accelerated particulate loading conditions, which simulate defined periods of use. The standard contains test procedures which may be applied to any brand or model of air cleaner within the standard's limits for measuring performance.
