InSinkErator, a division of St. Louis-based Emerson, received the 2008 Emerson Technology Award for the development and launch of the Evolution Series of food waste disposers. Emerson typically develops and launches about 500 major new products annually and selects one new product or technology each year to honor with the Technology Award. Seventeen products were reviewed by Emerson technology leadership in consideration for this year’s award, which is judged on:
The Evolution Excel model was engineered with the world’s first three-stage grinding technology, making it possible to grind virtually any kind of food without jamming or clogging. The Excel also operates 60% quieter than older technology disposers. Other models are designed to meet specific needs, such as a model to assist septic tank users, a model with an automatic cover for increased safety, and a compact model for tight spaces. “Given the challenging judging parameters and list of competing products, this award is a very significant accomplishment for InSinkErator,” said Jerry Ryder, InSinkErator president. “The innovation and hard work of the Evolution Project Team represents the ‘best of the best’ at Emerson, a very small and elite group of individuals.” |
