Electric housewares OEM Jarden Corp. reported a US$170 million loss for 4Q 2008. Sales declined 8% to $1.35 billion from $1.47 billion.
For the year, the company recorded a loss of $58.9 million, or $0.78 per share, as results included a non-cash impairment charges. A year earlier, Jarden posted a profit of $28.1 million, or $0.38 per share.
"We fully expect the difficult operating environment to continue for the near term," Chief Executive Martin E. Franklin said in a statement.
