A news item on Jan. 22, 2009 incorrectly stated that Chinese home appliance maker Haier has displaced Whirlpool as the world's top refrigerator maker in terms of sales with a 6.3% global market share. The news item cited a Euromonitor report.
However, according to Euromonitor, Whirlpool leads in company shares. Haier’s brand, Haier, is indeed one of the top selling brands.
