U.S. Retail Sales Rise in May

Total sales at U.S. retailers rose a full percentage point in May, the Commerce Department said. Taking out the higher prices consumers paid for gasoline, sales still rose by 0.8%, the biggest increase in a year.

Excluding autos, sales rose 1.2%, the biggest rise in 6 months.
