Whirlpool Corp. filed a lawsuit against Kenwood Ltd., a subsidiary of Italian appliance maker De’Longhi SpA, for alleged trademark infringement. The lawsuit says that Kenwood copied, and now infringes the trademark shape of Whirlpool’s KitchenAid stand mixer.
Whirlpool is seeking an injunction to prevent Kenwood from continuing to sell its kMix mixer in the European Union. The company is also seeking damages. The company said the London trial begins May 6. Similar action has also been filed in France.

Whirlpool said it owns the mixer shape trademark in the U.S., Canada, European Union, France, Germany, Italy, Benelux and Australia, among other countries.
