Retailer Best Buy has received the 2008 Energy Star Excellence in Appliance Retailing Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), in honor of its contributions to protecting the environment through energy efficiency.

"An increasing number of our customers are asking about the energy efficiency of the appliances and electronics they purchase from Best Buy,” said Thad Carlson, senior domain planner, Home Life Customer Solutions Team, Best Buy.

This past year, Best Buy developed Energy Star-focused “eLearning” training programs that help ensure its sales associates are able to answer customer questions about energy efficiency and environmental savings. More than 50% of all appliances available at Best Buy are Energy Star-qualified, as well as a growing number of products in other categories, like home theater and computers.
