The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced that James Hedlund will become the organization’s new vice president of Regulatory Affairs beginning later this month. CEA also announced the promotions to vice president of Parker Brugge and Veronica O’Connell.

Hedlund most recently was director of public policy for CEA member company Yahoo! Inc., where he was responsible for telecom, media, technology, intellectual property, energy efficiency and tax policy, and served as lead advocate before congressional and executive branch agencies and committees on legislative and regulatory priorities.

Under his new title, Brugge will continue to represent the consumer electronics industry internationally and before federal, state and local governments on critical issues such as electronics recycling, substance restrictions, energy efficiency and other environmental issues.
O’Connell, who joined CEA in 2001, serves as an advocate for the consumer electronics industry on public policy issues, including telecommunications policy, technical mandates, digital television, spectrum reform, and copyright issues.
