Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) announced an agreement to promote the use of UL Standards for Safety in the ongoing development of national safety standards in Saudi Arabia via formalized consulting, communication, and information exchange protocols.

This is the fifth such agreement announced by UL in support of its public safety mission and brand globalization initiatives. Earlier, UL announced a similar agreement with INTECO, the national standards body of Costa Rica in Central America, with IBNORCA, the national standards body of Bolivia in South America, with SII, the national standards body of Israel, and with TTBS, the national standards body of Trinidad and Tobago.

SASO is accredited as the national standards writing organization in Saudi Arabia, and has already begun the process of adopting UL standards for use within the country.
