Pioneer Corp posted an 80% decrease in quarterly operating profit for second quarter 2007. The company cut its plasma TV and plasma display shipment target by 22% to 560,000 units for the current business year. It also said it planned to halt production at one of its plasma display production lines sometime in the next business year and would not go ahead with building a new factory. The production halt would cut annual plasma panel output capacity by 12%, an equivalent of 850,000 42-inch panels.
