Emerson Electric Co said that orders in August rose 5%to 10%, boosted by favorable currency rates. Network Power orders rose 15% to 20% from a year ago, while orders in Emerson's Process Management and Industrial Automation divisions each increased 10% to 15%.

Appliance and Tools orders were flat. Climate Technologies orders were down 5% to flat in August due to weakness in the U.S. housing market, Emerson said. Emerson also said that on Sept. 24 it sold its Western Forge hand tools business, which has about US$80 million in annual revenue.
