Staples To Open Environmentally Friendly Store In Miami

Retailer Staples will open a green retail building registered with the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The new store's green design features:
- A reflective roofing system to help improve energy performance and reduce "heat island effect" contributing to higher city temperatures;
- Collection of rainwater through rooftop gutter systems and ithe nstallation of waterless urinals and low-flow toilets
- Drywall, steel, concrete, bathroom partitions, carpet, and parking stops made from recycled materials;
- On-site recycling for paper, plastic, glass, and cardboard
