Whirlpool Corp. said it will lay off 360 workers from its facility in Fort Smith, AR, U.S. effective Nov. 2. The lay off is part of a 700-person job cut that was announced last October, which was supposed to happen during the first half of 2008. The plant currently employs about 2,900. Before the layoffs began nearly two years ago, Whirlpool was Fort Smith's largest manufacturer, employing nearly 4,600 workers.
