Honeywell announced an extended agreement with appliance company Whirlpool Corp. to supply its Enovate blowing agent used in energy-efficient rigid polyurethane insulating foam.

Honeywell's blowing agent is a zero ozone-depleting hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) that allows insulating foam to expand and provides the majority of the foam's performance characteristics. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Major appliance manufacturers use rigid polyurethane foam with Enovate to insulate the cabinet to boost energy efficiency. This insulating foam helps meet strict energy-consumption standards without increasing wall thickness, which would reduce storage capacity or require a larger exterior cabinet design.
