Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (Osaka, Japan) will construct a facility to make plasma TV displays in Russia, various media sources are reporting today. The Daily Yomiuri Online said Matsushita, best known by its Panasonic brand name, wants its Russian plasma plant up and running by fiscal 2009 to meet growing demand in Russia and neighboring markets. The company is evaluating the location and capacity needs for the plant, which could be the first plasma display plant in Russia. Matsushita has 6 facilities currently making plasma screens, including Japan and a plant in the Czech republic that is currently the source for Panasonic plasma screen sold in Russia.
