The Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI), which develops technical standards for manufacturers of air-conditioning and commercial refrigeration equipment sold in North America, and the Associación de Normalización y Certificación (ANCE), the electrical standards development agency in Mexico, will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Oct. 9, 2006, in Mexico City, the day prior to the opening of the AHR Expo Mexico exposition.

The MOU will help foster the harmonization of ARI and Mexican HVACR technical standards and promote collaboration on standard development to advance international trade as well as strengthen industry efforts to improve their products’ energy efficiency and reduce refrigerant emissions. ARI believes the signing will mark an important step in assuring regional harmonization within North America and will serve as a stepping stone for more international standardization.

The signing will be preceded by a panel discussion of ARI and ANCE representatives, as well as representatives from other Mexican organizations.
