Wal-Mart is opening 20 new stores across the U.S this week. The global retailer said the new stores will create 6,100 jobs and generate more than U.S. $500,000 in charitable contributions.
Each store offers new elements introduced by Wal-Mart to enhance in-store design and product mix, including offering products and merchandise that reflect the local needs of a community. For example, the Wal-Mart Supercenter opening today in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, will offer the local community an expanded line of Jamaican and Caribbean grocery items. The retail said the new stores will also have new lines of merchandise, wider aisles, more visible signage, and a wide selection of home décor and home organization merchandise. They will have expanded consumer electronics offerings and many will offer a Wal-Mart Connect Center for wireless phones.
