Small appliances maker Spectrum Brands (Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.) is expanding its relationship with Agion Technologies Inc., provider of silver-based antimicrobial solutions. Remington now offers four personal grooming product lines, including hairdryers, curling irons, hair straighteners, and personal groomers, that incorporate the supplier's antimicrobial technology. The products have self-cleaning surfaces that do not allow microbes to survive and multiply.

“The personal grooming marketplace is incredibly crowded and competitive,” said Dave Everett, technical manager, Spectrum Brands. “At Spectrum, we seek ways to differentiate our products to give us a competitive edge.”

The Agion technology is EPA-approved and can be found other consumer products such as cell phones, keyboards, clothing, shoes, and other household appliances.
